Variable Speed Drives
Replacing Drive Systems on existing production lines in tight shut-down timescales has made us the first port of call for many Plant Engineers and Engineering Managers.
Continuous process manufacturing lines like Paper Making usually rely on Variable Speed Drives but some Drive Systems are now old, obsolete, difficult to fault-find and repair and subsequently cause increased downtime.
Successful re-drive or retrofit projects are the result of careful planning. All our field offices are on hand to discuss issues on site and offer advice for all applications or preferred drive module manufacturer.
Control & Automation
A modern Control System will maximise production, quality and consistency, minimise scrap and downtime and make the workplace as safe as possible.
It will do this by constantly monitoring the product and machine conditions and optimising operations accordingly; it will provide Operators with concise data and graphical representations of the process and it will communicate and report to Business Unit Managers.Detailed fault reports will be generated allowing maintenance staff to diagnose and repair lines as fast as possible. Our experienced Field Engineers are ready to safely visit Production Areas to discuss maximising throughput using the latest PLC & Scada Technologies
Safety Related Control Systems
Safety is of paramount importance in the workplace. There is a plethora of Standards to be met and Instruments to ensure everyone works safely.
IEC 61508 and it's derivative IEC 62061 are the guides to designing and implementing a Safety Related Control System from Hazard Analysis to determining a SIL level through to final Implementation. With every step in the process documented and "signed-off", and by using Pilz Safety Products, Masterpower have successfully implemented many SRCS, particularly in the demanding Papermaking sector with their HSE inspired "Making Paper Safely" campaign.
Secure Power
Unfortunately the quality of the mains supply isn't all that it should be. This is exacerbated by the introduction of VSD and Switch Mode PSU introducing line harmonics.
Microprocessor and Computer based Control & Monitoring equipment is particularly sensitive to mains disturbances leading to nuisance tripping of equipment and unnecessary downtime. Masterpower can prevent this by installing an On-Line UPS.This means the protected equipment will "ride through" most glitches. Or if a longer power outage is encountered, data can be saved before equipment is safely shut-down (automatically if necessary) thus getting production back up to speed quickly once power is restored.
